Shuggie is organising the train travel this season so if anyone wants to join the crew on the 1st away trip of the season next week can you let him know asap (to allow him to buy cheap tickets).
Suggie's computer is dead at the moment so you can send your message via me if you don't have his contact details.
ps I won the 1st "sheet" of the season yesterday !!!

Today I spoke to my friend who has contacts with the Arbroath team and he told me that Peterhead beat them 4-2 on Saturday, at times they were being pummeled and that Peterhead have 2 very quick guys up front. Looks like `Shire will have their work cut out for them this weekend, hope we can give as good as we get.

We understand but do you really want to get into Aberdeen at 8.39 and Peterhead at 10am ? This would mean we have to get the 5.50am from F*****k. I think not !
The next train is the 8.09 from Stirling arriving at Aberdeen at 10.13, I'm sure the bus is around 11am which gets us into Peterhead at 12pm. So unless you have a huge objection by tomorrow (can you phone Shuggie) the tickets will be bought. The link train is 7.30am from Polmont, 7.35 F*****k and 7.38 from Camelon.
Shuggie will be booking the last train we get get back from Aberdeen to Stirling, the 20.42 which arrives at 22.43. The Edinburgh train from Stirling (the last one is 23.08pm). This will allow a stop off at Ellon on the way back.
At the moment there are 7 names down (including you Twinkle as it will be cheaper that your usual deal - you still can use your special to get to Stirling so don't moan!) with one space left. We will be buying 8 tickets anyway so anyone who wants to tavel will us for £11 to Aberdeen can you phone Shuggie or me asap - 1st come etc.
AND then we do this all again 3 days later !

No good. Shuggie can only get the cheap tickets for the very early train. Had a look at the proper price and scotrail are quoting £40+ on their site (that is supposed to be a saver!) - no way I'm paying anything like that.
Can everyone contact Shuggie asap to confirm what they want to do and he will buy the tickets tomorrow. I will be getting the early train no doubt - pubs are open early in the docks area.

Strangely I feel pretty fresh today and looking forward to going back up to Peterhead on Tuesday night.
I thought we starting off the game ok yesterday before Peterhead took control. In the end we just failed to get away with a 4-0 defeat but by that time we were at the mercy of Peterhead.
Shire please just give us one goal on Tuesday, I really don't want to travel North for the sixth time in a row just to watch goals go in at the other end !
For those who are interested, Peterhead did not produce a programme for yesterday's game.

Although everybody that travelled up to the game yesterday was not really expecting too much it was dissappointing to end up with yet another tanking at Balmoor stadium. Our bright, positive play of the week before never really appeared because Peterhead did a very good job of totally `snuffing us out`- perhaps that was the most dissappointing thing about the game, our shots on goal could be counted on 1 hand. Peterhead still have a big physical edge on us and that certainly featured in the 1st two goals from Tully, both powerful headers that we could not seem to defend against. While conceeding that they certainly deserved to win, the 5th goal by our Blue `toon `hoodoo` man Martin Johnston made the game appear a total walkover for them when in fact it never got quite as bad as that. Not that its much consolation to us but I think we might not be the only team this season that goes up there and gets a tanking.

Looking at our 1st two fixtures you would think the league computer was a bit of a sadist - Peterhead away, Gretna home, most peoples 2nd and 1st favourite teams to win our division. So lets not get too carried away with our defeat to one of them on Saturday, we were well beaten but not thrashed out of sight - `Shire fans know there is a difference. The team have to do their best on Tuesday back up there again and then face Gretna, 6-0 winners on Saturday. So its not going to get any easier this week and we hope the team knuckle down and tough it out - as you sometimes have to do in this division. What upset us in the last 2 years was our inability to compete with teams in the bottom half of the table - I suggest that is where we will see if our new model team is an improvement or not. So lets keep the faith, even if we get beaten by the top teams we may find them in poorer form later in the season and spring a surprise. The proper time to judge this seasons `Shire team is when we have played everybody at least once.

Shire didn't really pose any threat to Peterhead with only a Ross Donaldson effort forcing Mathers to make a save. Jamie Dunbar just didn't feature which was the biggest disappointment of tha game. Whilst acknowledging Ramz's point about two 3rd Divisions we expected that Gretna, Peterhead and Stenny would be the top league. Well what about the result from Ochill View? How frightening is that? Is the bottom league going to be just us and the Wee Rovers?
