Don't have good feelings about this game but then can we be any worse than the performance v Elgin City ?
Q.P. are starting to put things together again and we are unpredictable at best. Seems a long time ago since the fans started to believe that we were beginning to turn the corner.
Is it only me who thinks 1 win in our first 22 competitive games this season is not really a big improvement on the last couple of years ? Granted the team is now, 2 out of 3 games (maybe I'm being a bit generous here), playing like a team who can actually challenge for results.
We need another win badly. No matter how and against who. We don't want to be going into the last couple of months of the season struggling to beat the 13 points total of the delightful Danny Diver era. Do we ?
Come on Shire. Lets shock 'em ! Sooner would be really nice.

At least the weather has calmed down a bit now and since the forecast is for sunny spells and a very reasonable 2-9 degrees C. for the 1st time since early December I can say this game looks like its definately going to be played. The good thing about playing Queens Park is that you will usually get a proper game of football - hopefully nothing like the non-event that was the Elgin game 2 weeks ago. 1 or possibly more trialists will feature in this game - Derek Rae (brother of current Rangers player Alex Rae), Paul Tyrell (former Queens Park midfielder) and an unnamed goalkeeper are all expected to be in the frame for this game.
Agree with Strumps, we now need to dig out a result (preferably a win) soon to stop the progress made before Xmas being frittered away. Get in there `Shire!

.... and what of Ian Diack, is he still in the frame? Yes, his loan deal will be up after this game. Although he has only played in about 4 or 5 matches in his 2 month stint so far he has`nt exactly set the heather on fire. I thought he had a decent game v Albion Rovers on the 4th December (1-1) and thats it, although I suppose you have to consider a lot of those games were plagued by very poor weather and/ or a very poor overall team performance.

Mmmm, must ask a few more questions about players if that's the effect it has!

Top notch result. Not only that but it stops the talk of how long we'd gone without a home win befoe it had really started. Now got more points than last season and just 2 away from equalling the 13 of the previous year. Not exactly dizzy heights but at least it's progress. Any chance of McGroarty signing for the rest of the season?

Don't have good feelings about this game but... I know nothing and talk a lot of Shire all the time! My thoughts on today's win? We got the early goals and won nearly every spin of the dice when it mattered. By the end Q.P. amitted defeat. Now, can we beat someone else apart from Q.P. and Elgin ? ps So you are alive Dodger !

Bloody marvellous! The sheer luxury of having double figure points puts spectre of last season firmly behind us now! Trialist Chris McGroarty playing his 2nd (& possibly his final) game for us helped turn the game in our favour in the 1st half with excellent touches of the ball. In the 2nd half it was all hands to the pump as Queens came at us but looked a bit shot shy - although we did ride our luck at times. The penalty save was decisive and the 2 goal cushion helped us ride out the rest of the game. I did`nt see the Ally Graham/ Greg Denham incident so I can`t really comment on it (although depending on who you ask Graham either headbutted Denham or Denham faked injury - whatever, the ref did`t see it and so nothing happened). Queens have a very good recent record at Firs Park and must have thought they could get a win without too much trouble - our good display and win is as much a surprise for the Shire fans as anyone else - you just can`t predict when (or if) we will do anything good.
This season, apart from the Gretna & Peterhead, if we are up for a game and our opponents are not then we`ve got a decent chance of taking something from any of the other 8. Its still odds on that we will finish bottom but this still represents a big improvement on what went on before.

I`m still grinning about the result yesterday, its just what we needed - along with the rest I did`nt go home till the wee small hours, such fun! I`m delighted for the players and the manager to get 3 points from a good, controlled 1st half and a gritty and determined 2nd half - where it must be said, we lived dangerously at times and for once fate smiled on us (the penalty save - though well done Jackson on diving the right way!). Special mention to Greg Denham (competed well), Ross Donaldson (an enigma to some but he definately helps the team), Iain Diack (played only his 2nd decent game for us but credit where it is due) and trialist for the 2nd time Chris McGroarty (MotM performance, took his 2 goals really well, looked a class apart yesterday and will no doubt have impressed scouts watching from the stand)

So what's Chris McGroarty gonna do now? Sit around and wait for something to happen - why not bang out a few more games for 'Shire. Same with Ian Diack, what now, back to Morton and do nothing. It's not as if Morton are in dire need of him, is it?
If these players are prepared to knock out a few games - on the usual 'Shire terms, of course - why not bring them in on a longer term basis. Then again, if they want the high-living of Greenock Morton, let 'em go. Dare say there's any number of players who would be prepared to accept the 'Shire terms just to get a game on a Saturday - maybe the approach isn't quite right.
Answers on a postcard, please

According to today's Press and Journal Chris McGroarty is off to Lincoln for a weeks trial.
Not much Dennis can do when players, quite rightly, try to move themselves onwards and upwards.
