Once again, there must be a question whether this game will be on or not. While there has not been the real extremes that have been seen elsewhere the continuous rain for almost a fortnight made the pitch into a paddy field on Tuesday night and today is the first day we have had no rain in F*****k. Keep your ears to the ground for information on this one - I hope news of any inspections or whatever will be posted here.

The latest news (Fri night about 6pm) is that there are no plans to have an inspection (recent better weather has helped) and things look good for the game to go ahead tomorrow.

Mince, utter mince. From bein genuinely dissappointed at losing to Cowden the week before we now serve up this total non - event. You could go to Titan and back and we still would not have scored in this game - I just could`nt see a goal coming for us and neither could anyone else. I would say that Derek Ure had a poor game today, although I suppose he`s not featured much the last month and a half so a bit rusty - maybe. I also have to ask questions of Iain Diack - he just did`nt seem to do anything at all today - ok if he`s supposed to be a penalty box player he needs more chances to feed off but he is`nt quick, does`nt move much and does`nt do any work - I find myself relieved that he is only on loan - we need workers out there not fancy boys who never `get the right moment`. Just to compound things Albion Rovers go and win a game - bad day at the office Shire.

Unfortunately for all who attended the game yesterday (including some that travelled from distant parts of England) this turned out to be a real stinker. In the first half we played away without creating much and lost out to a well taken goal. In the 2nd half everybody became really fraustrated with our complete inability to pose any kind of threat up front to Elgin, who soaked it up and picked us off on the counter - though to be fair they were able to pressure our defence more than I can remember them doing in a few years at Firs Park.
I think there are 2 main reasons why we were so bad yesterday - 1) no matter what people say about Ross Donaldson when he is not there you miss him up front. If he had been playing yesterday our attacking moves would have lasted a bit longer up at Elgin`s end of the park as no one else can hold the ball up like him. 2) people should remember the last home game with Elgin - more or less the same thing happened there (lost 0-1), only it was a bit worse this time. They are a hard team to break down when they are away and they totally fraustrated and `snuffed us out` in both games. We had to score the 1st goal yesterday to get something from the game - when they scored I felt we would struggle to get through their defence.
It also seems we don`t cope very well when we are not `the underdog` as many people had tipped us to win based on our previous record against Elgin. With the recent dissappointing crop of results lets hope we can spring a surprise on an unsuspecting opponent this month by playing well and winning!

Ramz, I tend to agree. We just lacked some honest toil and looked lightweight just about everywhere, except I am pleased to say we have a keeper who does the basics well. Did we lack a little fitness as well in the second half? Having read the programme we are promised new players but lets face it we want players who will be proud to wear the shirt and get stuck in.
Keeping the Faith
Up the Shire!
