Is it not about time we beat the fife lot? In our away games we led and should have took 3 or at least 1 point from this mob. Lets go out and erase last seasons scottish cup gubbing by them tomorrow. Do we have a team though?

"Is it not about time we beat the fife lot?" Indeed it is! And we have! You little beauty! GO THE SHIRE!!! What chance we can still avoid bottom place? Although it's already now officially a better season than the disasters of the last two. Onwards and upwards, Shire! ;D

Chuffed to bits with both result and performance - when the majority of the team play well and we can get most of our regulars on the park it makes a big difference - today was a very good example. Really good to see midfield and forwards linking so well, especially in the 2nd half. Honourable mentions to Chris McGroarty(excellent game, really nice goal!), Ross Donaldson, Derek Ure(nice to see a return to form), the brothers Mark & Paul Tyrell(turned out to be a couple of inspired signings - did we sign any bad players at all in Jan/Feb?), Greg Denham(great to have him playing week to week, a real presence in defence) and Derek Jackson(despite uncharacteristic slip that led to the Cowden goal he is possibly the best signing of the season).
Don`t waste your time worrying about whether we can avoid bottom place or not - I say we can`t (we had too poor a start to the season and give Albion Rovers a bit of credit, they are a much improved side too) so lets just accept it and look at the positives. We now have more points than the last 2 seasons (operating under the £10 a week restriction) and have beaten somebody different from Elgin or Queens Park. Even though I am sure we will finish bottom, I think we should give the manager a good deal of credit for vastly improving our team from the utter shambles of last year and the Danny Diver negative thinking "voyage to the bottom of the league" season before that. We should remind ourselves that our team operates under restrictions that no other team in our division has to put up with. I will consider anything we get from the rest of the season as a very pleasant bonus - I only ask one thing more - that we take something from the Warriors!

Magnificient performance and fantastic work rate from all throughout. This is the third time this season we have beaten a team who were sitting third in the league. The Cowden fans were not a happy lot & started throwing coins and spitting on the linesman. They made a big mistake by insulting The Shire from the start by shouting "Get into this S***E " this obviously upset the lads. I know Shire are not famed for their consistency but if we can continue playing with that attitude we can get more points. These six English fans from London who were at the match for the 1st time gave great support & were rewarded with a win. They also backed The Shire at 9/2. What a day they had. Looking forward to Stenny game. PS Where were Brian & Linda?

Where were Brian & Linda? Actually, its a fair question. Decent game and a deserved win, another team that dared to underestimate us has been sent home with tail between legs! Did`nt realise there were coins on the park at the end - if the ref puts it in his report will we get into trouble for some yobs from `over the water` being petulant? My point on the Gretna thread stands. I think most Shire fans will accept being bottom this year simply because what has gone before was so utterly sh1te and this season does point to a fair bit of improvement. Next season I for one will ask for us NOT to be bottom and I don`t think that is an unreasonable demand.
