Now we are truly putting the results together! Don't let anybody tell you that the 'Shire were lucky.

I salute a controlled performance by the `Shire team today - a lot of people will again have been caught out by this result at the bookies! A point apeice looked a fair result on the day and though not many clear cut chances were created by either side we managed to produce a defensive display that perhaps surprised Queens. Last season we would have leaked one or two goals here but the sight of a `Shire team standing firm was quite something to behold today.
A confession - I thought when the manager took off Ross Donaldson (and replaced him with Jamie Dunbar) it was a mistake as he was the one who could hold up the ball best up front for us. However watching the game unfold it was soon apparent that this was a substitution worth trying (at that point) as Jamie`s pace caught out the Queens defence on a few occasions and might have resulted in us stealing all 3 points - a gamble worth taking in my opinion.

Now we are truly putting the results together! Don't let anybody tell you that the 'Shire were lucky. We were Sh*te in the 1st half, played some d**ned good stuff in the second, rode our luck etc. Ultimately I would have been dissappointed if hadn't taken anything from the game. Surely not ? We can't be becoming a real team again ?!

So, Strumps, when was the last time we went 3 League games without defeat?

Agree with Strumps, thought we rode our luck at times in this game but we stood tall and succesfully toughed it out with one of the form teams (behind Gretna & Peterhead of course) at their park. Yes, the Shire surprise me in a good way once again - we actually have a bit of form behind us now for the first time since around 2002(!), something that has noticably increased the confidence of our players recently.
This sets us up nicely for our important game with Albion Rovers next week - they got a point in a 2-2 draw with Elgin yesterday. This puts us 3 points behind them which is within our reach - something that comes as a pleasant surprise to those of us who had thought it pointless to look at the league table untill this month.

So, Strumps, when was the last time we went 3 League games without defeat? We won 3 league games in a row 2/4/02 (h) v Dumbarton 1-0, 6/4/02 (h) v Brechin City 2-0 and 9/4/02 (h) v Peterhead 1-0. Note the clean sheets ! For those who asked yesterday the last time we acheived a 0-0 was 26/8/00 v Hamilton Academical (h) in the league, around 180 games ago. One thing to note is that the 4 opponents in these games were all challenging or were promoted the season we played them. ps last 0-0 away game was at Cowdenbeath in the league on 25/3/00.
