So many thoughts on this one.
Can we just get even 1 point this season from an away game ? I've been to every away game since our last away win at Hampden in Jan last year and no joy. I have band myself from train trips, I've cut down on the overnight stays and even worst all just to somehow sway the "greater beings" into looking favourably into putting an away point Shire's way.
So for me it's my final hope for the season. I will be there for the fun on the beach (weather permitting) which will hopefully set us all up for the big 90 mins.
More later, some silly person has just phoned giving me his e-mail address !

The mysterious Shire Lady from the Deepest South East checked her Tarot cards and said the signs were GOOD for Saturday ! But if that means good weather, good beer or a Non Losing Shire performance she did not elaborate ! .

Hmmm. Well it is probably not the weather - prediction is cloudy with chance of some rain. For the area low tide is 9.30am, high tide 3.50pm so when we are there the tide will be half way up the beach and comming in. I strongly advise NOT running into caves where the entrance is near the waterline in case you get cut off - we can`t afford to lose any of the regular `Shire crew!
I am not the only one to notice that our record away at Montrose is pretty rotten - even before the 2002 "lets run a minimal team on £10 a week " caper started our general record at Links Park is not very inspiring. I well remember our brilliant 94/ 95 team going there on the 2nd last day of the season with an outside chance of promotion (does anybody remember that kind of stuff?!), absolutely pounding them and comming away with a 1-0 defeat - no luck even with good teams.

I do. What a team we had that season. wellibob's second computer has also now got a virus, 2 Spanish ones actuallly. How strange. Anyway I've bought my prize for Saturday and was wondering if it has to be gift wrapped. Also, will it randomly be given out to a winner of a game or is there a set format ? ps I beat Drummond isin't looking forward to the "who can beat up Drummond best" game , though he did win a 2 v1 situation earlier this season against Dead and Mr Bob.

;DDead had you beat 'til you ran up a hill to get away.So moral victory to Dead and Mr. Bob. I've got a packet of mince for Drummond as he is sure to win the minciest runner race.

I'm Reliably informed that it was Mr Bob & Dead who rolled down the grassy bank.

Montrose 1, `Shire 0: when you`re down nothing at all goes for you. `Shire played as well as their hosts today, that`s not saying much since both teams did`nt exactly `scintillate` with exciting football but the fans did see the team `knuckle down` and try and fight their way through this game - and it nearly worked. It was a game of few real chances and surprisingly `Shire had more of these than Montrose - naturally when we did`nt take any of these our opponents broke upfield and scored a sickening 90th minuite winner which was harsh on the team but this sort of thing has happened before this season and it did`nt come as a shock to the downcast fans at the end. The 2 things we can take from today are: brilliant beach party before the game(!) and most of the team were trying today and nearly did it - 1 game to go lads - give it your all against Elgin next Saturday.

Once again Montrose get the late late home goal to end Shire hopes. What really hurt was that it was a weak shot straight down the middle that wasn't dealt with.
The home fans had started leaving 5 mins before the goal and only turned around to see the ball hit the net. At the end of the game Montrose left the pitch to the biggest home noise of the game. Sums it up.

One of the few times we can actually say that we fully deserved to take something from a match this season. Thought it was a good all-round performance but we just didn't get the breaks we required.
Ross Gilpin looked commanding in goals and was helped out by good displays by all 3 centre-halves. Too often though decent performances like this have been followed up by us reverting to the usual crap, so let's hope that we can give a similar performance next week, only with a positive result this time.

A very decent away performance yesterday by our boys and managed to look reasonably tight at the back too. Was gutted at the end but to be honest most of the away crew were psychologically prepared for a late sickener and it duly arrived, not for the 1st time this season. This leaves us with one home game with Elgin to go and everything now boils down to this game, we must try and get at least a draw to end our current stats nightmare.
