I thought we actually played reasonably well tonight but ended up with nothing simply because Queens were better - thats the best I`ve seen them play this season - they closed us down, always looked dangerous on the break and worked hard as a team. The goals we scored were excellent, the 1st a direct free kick by Sean McAuley (when did you last see us score one of them?) pity the lead did`nt last very long (it never does) their 1st goal was caused by our defence hesitating when a ball was deflected out to one of their players on the edge of the box - as a result he had room to fire it into the box and all the way to goal. Our 2nd and equalising goal was pretty good - the ball was worked down the left wing and played over their defence to the far corner of the box where Sean McAuley picked it up dribbled in a bit and hit a sweet shot by the keeper. Sadly Queens scored shortly after and they made a few decent chances against us after that and their 4th finnished us off. This reminded me of the Gretna game - pull game back to 2-2, lose goal within 5 mins, struggle afterwards - some nice football from time to time though, afraid that & our goals are all we can take from this game.

A game littered with some truely bad misses and some great goals.
Just what was the QP no.10 doing at the end of the 1st half ? I can only think that the miss was deliberate.

I remember a great McAuley goal against Ross County (when they were in the Highland League and Mcauley was just a youth of 16) that saw him dribble past the entire Ross team before digging one out in the top corner.
It can't have been better than that...surely..?

Thanks for the report Ramz. I'd to work late and missed the game.

Last night was actually a pretty decent game of football, the `bad misses & good goals` made it more exciting! Unfortunately we lost- again - talk about getting stuck in a rut? When we got the game back to 2-2 (+ well done for getting this far team) the manager said later on teletext "we are so used to getting beaten that the players are just waiting for the opposition to score" (I`m paraphrasing) - the supporters were saying exactly the same thing + 5 mins later they do exactly that. Have to admit that Queens played really well too - who is that little buzzbomb of a teenage forward of theirs, he played like he had a jetpack on - what a turn of pace this guy had, it caused us quite a few problems with this speed + direct running - lucky Chris Todd saved our bacon on 2 or 3 occassions.

shire did play really well on tuesday night, shame i cant go to more of the matches, breaks my little heart . Think we at least deserved a draw though both of sean's goals were top class, ill be surprised if he isn't being watched by a second division team, possibly first
