`optimistic`!? shopworker surely you have been at the sherry or something! I have been hopeful, `fingers crossed` and desperate before `Shire games but never in my life can I ever remember being `optimistic`, even in the `good old days`!!
Seriously a very important game tomorrow for both sides - I`m afraid that will probably affect the quality of the flowing, Brazil like football we are all so used to!Expect a grim struggle to the bitter end with the team that has most spirit and fight to win - unless something bizzare happens like own goals or crazy sending offs.

Shopworker it`s a long time since Shire gubbed someone 5-0. Strumps will tell you when this last happened, but it`s only a matter of time. My main worry is the young keeper as he`s not played a league game yet. The defence will have to help him.

Agree but he did OK to be fair when he came on for DJ when he hurt his back. I think it was against Arbroath was it not? The facts are clear that we need someone to replace DJ long term and Aaron has a chance to stake a claim so he will be up for it. DJ has been on top form and a hard act to follow. A decent turn out of the troops to cheer on the lads will help and lets hope for another celebratory beer of three after the match again!

Scarely Elgin players seem to see the Shire fixture as their MUST win game. For evidence of this just look back to the Elgin players over the top celebrations when the have beaten us at Shire Park.
Tomorrow may well come down to tatics and formation. Will Elgin go 3 up top against a Shire back 3 or will they revert to their usual dour away tactics against us. This is the crux. One thig for sure is that which ever manager gets the team formation right will be half way to winning the game.
Come on Dennis, you can out think Robertson !

Looks like being windy tomorrow so I would like to think we have a better passing game. Might be sticky for Aaron in goal but if the backs and Ally G get back for set plays we should be OK.

It was a very dissappointing result yesterday that has dumped us on the bottom of the table. While the performance was better than the previous week (how could it be worse?) it just did`nt seem enough. What went wrong?
Elgin came to play their usual way at Firs park, they sat in tight and tried to pick us off by breaking quickly upfield - sadly for us this has been a very successful tactic for them over the years and it worked again. The 1st goal is always important and the penalty they got was a soft, dubious one and I wonder if normal keeper D. Jackson would have ran back to his goal line rather than challenge the forward - we will never know. I thought their striker made the most of it but I have seen these both given and not given - no luck for us there I`m afraid. I was also dissappointed we did`nt manage to create more chances up front - admittedly its difficult if the other team are in a defensive formation but we needed something from this game. Unfortunately it was not a big surprise we got picked off later on.
The only good thing is that even though we are bottom we are not detached - there are at least 4 teams within 3 points of us which makes next weeks game against Albion Rovers just as critical as this one was. Come on `Shire, we know you can do better, lets have you up for this one!

Why do we nearly always do this against Elgin City at home ?
What hurts is that we did not do justice to ourselves. For some reason there was too many players who didn't get pass marks yesterday.
The game has now gone and we need to lift it for the next game against Albion Rovers this Saturday. Please !

ther was only one thing that upset me more than the elgin result.that was the loud comments by many shire fans.we like to go on about how fickle F*****k fans are - but many of our own are just as bad.some of them can't wait to turn on the management the minute something goes wrong - demanding substitutions for the sake of it when there is no better option on the bench - now that would be lacking in football knowledge.i was told by a "supporter" on saturday that beating F*****k meant nothing.well it certainly means something to me.How quickly some people forget what a laughing stock we were before dennis newall came along.we must start giving the management and team some real support right from the start of games instead of only getting exited if the team "perform" for us. for me that is a "big team support mentality". i also thing it is wrong to make unprovoked comments lacking respect for the opposition.thats what cowdenbeath and stenhousemuir "supporters" do.we should have more dignity than them.finally i will continue to let the referee know if he is he is mince - because lets face it. at least 80% of the time they are.as far as i am concerned although the shire were very poor on saturday - the "referee" still cost us the game.the ball was at least seven yards away from the keeper before any contact was made. was the keeper supposed to jump out of the way?
