Sounds a fairly reasonable result with, looking at the early report, what looks like a bit of a lashed-up team.

This was one of the best Shire displays I have seen in ages. If we convey that to league games we will win the league..............maybe. .

Loads to say about tonight's game.
The McGhee shimmey in front of the away fans in the 2nd half.
The players playing for themselves and the team.
Much more later but what I really what to say is that we played like a "proper" team tonight. Every worked for everyone else and performed like a team for the full 90 mins.

Agree punto, with a makeshift team (missing Big Carl, Joe Robertson, Steve Oates off the top of my head) we managed a much better than expected performance and result tonight (last season this could have been a massacre). Only `Shire fans can know how a 3-1 cup defeat can represent progress - in this case the first Scottish Cup tie in 4 years NOT to end in embarrassement. Despite Morton obviously being a bigger and more dangerous team we refused to lie down, passed the ball around pretty well, made some chances for ourselves and played some good stuff. Every one of our players should be well pleased with themselves tonight - I thought Graham McGhee had one of his best games for us. I hope the players are now seeing that their hard work in games stopping the opposition and setting things up for our forward moves is really starting to have a big influence on our results and performance.

"Sleep debt snatches" as Mark E. Smith would say.
Before I surcome I would like to thank Littlewoods for there help with tonight's bus. Good One.
Seeing those Shire home fans who were able to make it to an away midweek trip for the 1st time in many a game was a serious tonic.

Sky sports news have just shown the goals from last night's game (I've taped it if anyone misses it). It will probably shown again in 1 hour.
The also showed the Glasgow Univ. v Brechin City game.

Having had a wee shuftie at the Greenock Morton messageboards, they are a little ingracious about 'Shire and 'Shire supporters. Blimey crikey talk about partisan!

Congratulations to The Shire on a competent/spirited performance. The guys played their hearts out against a team who are 15 places above them in Scotland and we deserve a lot of credit for our performance. The good thing about this game and the previous 3/4 is that The Shire are playing football from the back and not lumping the ball up the park. Newell would have been proud of the team and Greg did a great job. The problem now is who gets a game on Saturday? We should be able to play passing football at Hampden which is more than can be expected with the surface at Firs Park. My offer still stands to cut the grass but I was speaking to a guy (sorry forgot his name but he is a friend of Del`s mum )who has a petrol driven mower and is willing to cut the grass we would only have to pay the petrol presumably.
Drummond please consider!

Yes, well done the Shire, with some of our regular players missing I was predicting a humping but you proved me wrong! What was put into wee Chris Baldwin`s tea? He was tackling like a tiger out there - mind you he could have gone for an early bath for one particularly `meaty` challenge in the 2nd half - I did`nt know he could tackle like that!
I think our club agreeing to play the game on Tue night when they had the right to have it on a Saturday proves we are run by either incompetents or people who don`t want us to make much money and have a better chance of taking something from that game - maybe both.
