I`ll write something about this game when I come back from the pub.
Back now, Today we went at Montrose from the word go, which was good to see - the difference from earlier games was that we got something for our troubles with a well taken goal in a 1st half that we dominated. Now some people thought we should have scored more than 1 and we did have chances, but I say lets be grateful that we scored, we have played well in a few games and not put the ball in the net. The 2nd half we lost our momentum a bit and Montrose came back into it - but they had to and only Arsenal are going to be able to dominate a game for an entire 90 mins. We still had some chances in the 2nd half as did Montrose but it was still dissappointing to see them score with a free kick with only 7 mins remaining, their players celebrations showed how much they thought they had `got out of jail`.
One curious thing right at the end - the referee did not properly signal the end of the game! He blew one blast on his whistle (instead of the usual 3) and the players in the centre of the park all stopped and looked at him as if to say `well, what is it?` after a bizzare couple of seconds the ref, realising nobody knew what he had blown for made a motion for the ball to be given to him and the players walked off shrugging their shoulders - never seen a game ended like that before!

Agree with your comments .The way Montrose celebrated when they scored was usually reserved for scoring a last minute winner in the Scottish Cup Final.Maybe that`s just how much we`ve progressed that other teams respect us that much

Sounds a bit like the Cowden game where we should have scored more than one when on top and paid for not doing so later. I see from the paper that Oates and Denham were playing together for the first time any signs of ther being a partnership here?

I see from the paper that Oates and Denham were playing together for the first time any signs of ther being a partnership here? Yes to both - we could & should have scored more but we have seen the team on top for large parts of games before and get nothing at all, at least we got something this time (we now have the same number of points we had at this stage last season - its time to overtake this now). As to Denham & Oates on the evidence of yesterday they both look fine - lets see them in another couple of games to judge. As well as this pair another player I was pleased to see was the big Norwegian, Carl - I thought here is somebody in midfield with presence, aggression and an eye for goal - exactly what we need! Joe Robertson has lately been showing exactly how useful an experienced player can be - a good solid performance and a bit of composure on the ball - more of this please! All in all I`m pleased with the way we performed yesterday and I think the players took a bit of confidence from last weeks first away point at Cliftonhill - and it showed. Lets take the game to Gretna in 2 weeks time lads!

Good to see a point and a goal Was there really 247 there? Not trying to do a Stenny and adding bacteria to the attendance figures are we?

The figure you mention did seem a little high for the game - but thats obviously the official figure given and you would have to prove it was wrong! Maybe we can stage a reconstruction of the crowd with actors and do a count or something?

What sort of travelling crowd do Montrose get... I seem to remember the day I was there ther was bugger all in their stands but over 300 listed as attending. maybe they buy tickets at the turnstiles and bugger off to do some shopping at Tesco's or pre-book some fine haggis suppers
