Unfortunately there must be a doubt whether this game will take place due to it raining every day for just about a fortnight. Hopefully those in `higher places` will keep us informed of developements.
I`m hoping it goes ahead - after the good display but poor result on Saturday I think the players need to go into this one with all guns blazing, sieze the moment and make things happen. The football does`nt have to be `sexy` (ground conditions would appear to rule it out although it would be nice) what `Shire fans want to see is a determined, gutsy, steely eyed, battling show. Make no mistake, it does`nt have to be fancy the result is all that matters and as long as we see the players do their best to get that result then we can be proud of our team.

Sadly this game has been CALLED OFF after a 4.00pm pitch inspection. I am told the ground was like a swamp last night and it simply has`nt had time to recover from several days of continual rain, and thats not even taking into consideration the strong gale force winds that are battering the place just now!

When I enquired about this to some `people in the know` recently they gave me the impression that this twice postponed game will now be put `on the back burner` untill late Feb/ March.

A bit of novelty value looking back on this thread for a game (twice postponed) originally meant to be played on new years day! The weather might still be a problem - if its too frosty it won`t pass any inspection. Even if it does the pitch is sure to be pretty awful.

Pretty heavy snow at the moment (4.30 a.m.) and freezing cold. It doesn't look very promising for the game to be on.

why is the game off? Sun is shining and weather is fine and why a 12.30 pitch inspection for a team that's to travel 3 miles. Pathetic

I`m reliably informed the game is off because of frozen pitch and the re-scheduled date (provisional) is Tuesday 15th March. With the temperatures expected to plummet it did`nt look too likely that it was ever going to be on so why hang about, I suppose.
