game is tuesday with 7.30 KO. WHY?
Every other post game from sat there is the coming sat but we are forced to play this tuesday. Looks like OUR club sold out again. Scared they'd get too much money from a sat game so lets make it a midweek game when all the champion league games are on. Total P.I.S.H This means they'll be less than 10 away fans (poss even less than 5) when on a sat 50+ away fans would have been going. FCUK off board.

The hypothesis doing the rounds amongst Morton fans is this: - Game was immediatley rearranged on Saturday for Tuesday at 7:30 following the pitch inspection. There was no disagreement.
- ES *allegedly* can't get more than seven players together on Tuesday due to work commitments and so on; they ask for a rescheduling to Saturday.
- I have no idea on the official Morton stance on this. I imagine that, because we're playing promotion rivals Brechin on Saturday, and we don't want a fixture backlog (which we WILL get over the winter months), we were reluctant to agree to this except in the most dire emergency - and since 7:30 on Tuesday had already been agreed on (ALLEGEDLY!), they must have refused the change.
- SFA have the final say, and they say it's on 7:30 on Tuesday. Apparently.
Bear in mind this is just what I've been reading and contains no official information from anyone. At the end of the day, Tuesday suits us better because we have a big game on Saturday, and I wouldn't like to see Morton budge on this (as much as I like the Shire) unless ES really are in such dire straits that can't be solved on a weeknight... because, basically, Morton has to look out for its own interests, and this season that involves our winning promotion. On the downside, a Tuesday game towards the end of term means I most likely can't make it up to Greenock due to workload...

Yes, I have heard that the `fallback` rescheduled date was agreed by Shire as this Tuesday. Mind you even if we had played the cup game on Saturday the away game with Queens Park would then have been bumped to a midweek trip to Glasgow. However in the cup gate money is shared and it is IN OUR INTERESTS to have our cup game on a Saturday: we can 1) get a generally bigger crowd, more Shire and Morton fans means more money for us, 2) we`ve got a better chance of getting something from the game as midweek some of our players are likely to be unavailable - the extra 4 days might have got a couple of our injured players fit as well.
It was unfortunate that the game had to be called off on Sat (anyone who went out the door would understand why this was nessesary) but I am still baffled that our club agreed a potential midweek replay date. I agree with wellibob, there will be a lot less Shire fans on Tuesday than there might have been, but a free bus being run by Littlewoods (leaves Gordon Lounge at 5.15pm) might still get a few people to go and see Shire in the Scottish Cup.

What if we get there and we don`t have a team? We could always play Gordon Parks from the start.

The whole situation is a joke.
We played at Peterhead midweek in the League Cup earlier this season, 3 days after being at Peterhead and we covering the far more expensive costs and time off for the players.
Given the amount of money that the club will gain from the tie this will more than cover expenses. Were not needing players to take a 1/2 day off here.
This is Mackin at his best.
One thing that did make me smile was the though that Morton could have ended up playing away at Brechin on a Tuesday anyway if the Glasgow Univ. game had been schedule for Saturday.
See you all at the game.
