Take it even our board will make this an all ticket game on Saturday. Capacity is currently 781 and Struggling can get promoted.
Are they just going to let everybody in and name the crowd as 781 (you can imagine what they will do with the extra money) or are they going to do what they did in 1999 when we only had the stand open and close the gates even though there were spaces ?
Be early next week.

Trying hard to shake the taste of Saturday's game out of my mouth but in truth the shadow of that game lies heavily on this fixture.
Shire fans do not want any local rivals winning promotion on our patch but then we have never had to bounce back from a result like Saturday's for decades.
Still to early for me to think "result" for the game but I do know it will be ONE day to remember (for a lot of reasons !).

Ref for the game is Martin Sproule.
He has been in charge of 8 3rd division games this season, 2 of which were Shire games. These were the 1-1 home draw v Cowden in Aug and 2-4 home match v Gretna in Feb.

Shire 0, Stirling Albion 3: The kick off was delayed by nearly 15 mins to let a bumper crowd (at least 600+) into Firs Park looking for a Stirling final promotion push. Surprisingly, the score flattered Stirling a bit. Shire harried their opponents, who seemed to be carring the burden of expecting to be promoted, and caused them to at least work a bit for their win. The 1st goal did not seem to settle them that much and Shire went on to miss a couple of decent scoring opportunities. As soon as they scored the 2nd it was all over, the 3rd looked like a horror handling slip by reserve keeper Ross Gilpin but the game was over by then anyway. Well done to Stirling, they deserve promotion this season and cheers to their fans for being supportive of us in our demonstration against Mackin!

My gut reaction about the game was that Shire played as well as we could but it was all about Stirling Albion getting there minds sorted. The game went through strange lulls when Shire got back into by default. Only, the occasional awakenings by the away team caused the result to flop into the Bino's favour.
I will always remember this game for the shortest every promotion celebration. That said, Stirling deserved to achieve promotion.

This game was not as bad as it could have been for `Shire but summed up in general terms some of the problems with the team this season. Stirling did not play as well as they can (promotion nerves) but despite this when they needed to win they just went and did it. `Shire defended for long periods of the match and succeeded in keeping Stirling at bay but their strikers were a lot sharper than ours and they could have easily had 5 or 6 had some of their their shots not been close misses. Sometimes one of our players would have the ball taken rather easily from him by a more experienced and craftier opponent. Their undeserved 3rd goal shows that individual errors can still play a big part in a game - but I think that it was right to give Ross Gilpin a chance in goal, espescially after last week. After the score last week this game was a worry for many fans but 0-3 looks rather ordinary by comparison - an improvement and I`m pleased the team showed a bit of fight.
