For me the real season starts here. With many of the `Shire fans having worked away quietly at tidying up the ground and Dennis Newall doing the same with assembling a new squad it should be an interesting season ahead. I don`t know if Cowden manager Dave Baikie resigning last week when a court case was brought after an (alleged) assault on a night out will make any difference to their players - but we will see soon enough. Look forward to seeing how our new partnership up front of Graham and Diack works (or not).

At risk of being predictable.....
"Go Shire"
.... and why has Dennis let go of Big Joe, or did Big Joe take the walk.
Any chance of some pictures of the ground now that you guys have carried out the work.
Are we still in stripes or are we wearing a proper kit?
Questions, demands
Enjoy the first win of the season!!

Alas it is dreadful non Shire stripes again this season but we can but hope for the return of the hoops one day.
Trevor the terrorist took pics of the ground tidying about a month ago, I will speak to him today to see if he can post them somewhere.

We played well today in a really tight game - it always looked like the 1st to score would win and thats what happened although I thought we were unlucky to get nothing from this game, and it must be remembered Cowden are one of the teams being tipped for promotion. Things are looking better through the whole team and we look as if we are going to be harder to beat this season which can only be good. The front pairing of Ally Graham and Ian Diack did create chances but look as if they need games to fully `click` with each other and the rest of the team. I was particularly impressed with Paul Tyrrell in midfield who worked and tackled like a trojan and our new No5, Paul Gaughan who looked composed at the back and did`nt let anything `phase him - a mention also for Scott Livingstone who seemed to be on the ball for the whole game. In general then, good performance, shame about the result!

I was not at the game working as you know but at least I know that Shire only lost by the odd goal and not 2! You have no excuse as you were at the game - too much pre-match beverage me thinks!

I`m not making excuses and you`ve probably heard this one before and I know there`s 35 league games to go but The Shire could do with a break in front of goal. Their goalie had 2 point blank saves when the ball went straight into his gloves and 1 point blank fist over. I thought Cowden were a bit physical ,lets hope the 3 injured players recover quickly. Oatsie played well when he came on and overall Shire competed well.

I think you are right as the general feeling is that the team is competing. Being a fan thats what you look for and the results will come I am sure. Berwick will be a tester on Sat, but its early doors still. Ally Graham has scored goals all over the place in the past and even being a tad older than most strikers I still back him to get stuck in when the pitches get heavy later in the season. He has a habit of scoring late goals as well.
