I think we'l end our losing streak and get a 2-2 draw tomorrow. The boys will rise to the occasion of playing at Hampden. Also heard that Carcary, the QP wizz kid, is probably out for the game. Our defence may stand a chance now. What's the travel plans and which pub are we congregating in pre match? I vote for the Beechwood at 2pm.

Lost again. 1 - 0. another poor shire performance with very few players getting pass marks. newell in defence had a resonably good game and Todd didn't do too much wrong but our forward play was nonexistant and we lacked any ideas after we kicked off. Looked as if we were playing for a 0-0 draw and when they scored we were lost. The poor season rolls on.
p.s enjoy the game today Twinkle.

You are the only decent shire supporter wellibob. I've never been treated so crap in my life as I was today. Thanx for being my friend-'bye.

Queens Park 1 `Shire 0 (scorer: Dunning) I must confess I had mixed emotions after this game. We played in a defensive formation with most of our players behind the ball (similar to Cowdenbeath) and tried to fraustrate Queens (with kind of mixed results!). Up front there seemed to be nothing much happening, once again Ure was partnered by Chris Baldwin, possibly to try and take advantage of any speed Chris can muster - personnally I don`t think it worked at all and we missed his dribbling and ability to get past people from the midfield. We hardly got any shots at goal, maybe a couple `on target` if we were lucky, again we did`nt look like scoring. Defensively our players seemed to be `getting in the way` of our opposition rather than taking the ball off them but no matter if we lived dangerously or not we did succeed in keeping them out for the rest of the game. With the score at 1-0 later on in the 2nd half I was dissappointed we did`nt have `a right go` at them LATER ON IN THE 2ND HALF, we were losing the game anyway, why not take a bit of a risk and attack in an effort to get an equaliser? Surely to lose by 2 or 3 at that point would not have been seen as a disaster (compared with the rest of the season!). On the other side of the coin, I can appreciate that the manager has at least made us harder to beat - it took a fine lob from Dunning which sailed over Chris Todd perfectly to beat us today - at least Queens had to work a bit to get the result. If the score stays at 1-0 it only takes a break for us or a piece of skill or something unexpected for us to get an equaliser and NOT lose the match if we can keep things tight. My only worry is that if we do lose a goal, it`s difficult to see (apart from the ways I`ve previously listed) how we can score a goal to get back into a game.

Short and sweet.
What the F*****k was going on in the 1st half ?
Just not good enough, even by our standards.

Totally agree with Shire105, the first half was an absolute disgrace. We couldn't even get the basics like hoofing the ball clear right and we were extremely fortunate to only be one behind at half-time. The second half was an improvement and the introduction of Jordan helped as he held the ball up quite well. However we never really looked threatening and apart from the last minute, Queens always looked the more likely team to score.
Have to disagree with you about the way we set up Ramz. We did have 2 up front and I don't think it was designed to be a defensive display. However because we could neither clear the ball properly (how many clearances were sclaffed in the first half?) or hold it up front, we ended sitting deeper and deeper, to the point where our midfielders were virtually playing at the back.
Like last week, the scoreline may be more respectable but the performance was no improvement on the rest of the season. And please don't play Baldwin up front again. It didn't work against Cowden and it certainly didn't work yesterday.

For those who asked yesterday:-
The Shire's last 0-0 draw was v Dumbarton (h) in the league on 20/3/01.
And the last 0-0 away ? At Cowdenbeath, in the league, on 25/3/00.
