A grand day out and a brilliant beach party. It started off bizzarely with the front of the bus being unable to hear wellibob`s cheap ghetto-blaster untill khaki-clad Trevor brought out his walkie-talkie and relayed it to the front of the bus via a handset! Add to that Laurel & Hardy`s `On the trail of the lonesome pine` was playing and it sounded like a genuine 1920`s quality recording - very surreal! Various bizzare games were played untill the `Shire regulars split into 2 teams for a game of beach rounders. After this shameful shambles both `teams` can be grateful the players were not there to watch as we would never be able to utter a harsh word about our team again! Both teams closely resembled an unco-ordinated, talentless, unfit rabble with the concentration span of a fruit fly (and I include myself in this list of shame). But, bottom line - what a great laugh it all was. Special thanks should go to `funmeister` wellibob for arranging the beach games and trying to be a fielder in the rounders game with a can of cider in his hand - class!

Perfect end to a nearly perfect day out.
Pictures make the whole thing real, at least your work mates will believe you really did it !
"Sledging Lunan Bay " as they nearly say.

Absolutely class day out, almost topped off with a positive result for the Shire. Hats off to everyone who helped organise it.

Yes dodger, lets not forget wellibob`s strange moment dedicated to you! A minibus full of `Shire fans, sitting on an almost deserted beach listening to wellibob`s cheap ghetto blaster, playing one of the more unusual beach games - guess the national anthem! So far, so bizzare you might think, but wait - its about to get even stranger. Suddenly in between the national anthems of Italy and Australia (I think) a tune comes on that has 70`s style electric `wa-wa` guitars and sounds a bit like the theme for Shaft!? "That can`t be anybodies national anthem" we all shout - "ah, but it is" wellibob eventually replies, "it`s dodger`s", turns out it`s the theme tune to infamous 70`s porn film `Debbie does Dallas!. Then we are reminded of some shady talk earlier in the season of a Cd-Rom or DVD supposed to be changing hands between wellibob and dodger and now it appears despite denials that there is a seedy side to being a `hard-core` `Shire fan!

I'm still not sure how I came to be associated with that particular piece of music. It all came about thanks to the now legendary trialist Mark "Porn Star" Reid's appearance at Elgin. Due to his appearance, Wellibob and Strumps began singing the aforementioned theme tune which I can guarantee you I was completely unfamiliar with.
Wellibob then attempted to present me with a Debbie Does Dallas DVD at Stranraer and, despite the fact that my mind became somewhat confused as the day wore on, I resisted. The DVD instead went to another unnamed Shire fan. Hope this puts an end to "Debbiegate", although it is something of a privelige to have my own national anthem!
