Rovers will be part time next season and all their players will be freed after the Gretna game.Surprised to hear this lot were full time as they proved to be only slightly better than The Shire this season. Just shows how good the fitness of our players is. Jed Stirling states in todays Record that no at the club saw this coming. Where was the money coming from to pay the players on home attendances of under 400? Maybe we`ve now got a chance of getting above them next season. At least it should be a better league without Gretna.

sounds scarily similar to what the Shire board did to us in summer 2002 - get rid of everybody and build a cheaper team from scratch - and look at what we have lived with in recent years since then.
Yes, I think it will be a much more interesting division next season with the return of some old favourite away trips (Berwick and Arbroath)!

Things not so bleak at Cliftonhill for the new season. We have a new manager - Jim Chapman and shall have a number of players full-time on Government schemes and others who'll train in the mornings and maybe have a part-time job in the afternoon.
Although we're saving cash - we're still paying a reasonable amount. Hopefully we'll get better value.
A new Cliftonhill is on the horizon too!

Well I suppose - just like the `Shire - the proof will be in the pudding come August!
You have to admit though Roy that there has been some strange `goings on` at Cliftonhill in recent seasons - no published accounts for 4 years (the club to pay the fine again and repeat next year?!), collapse of an attempt by the directors to move the club to Airdrie, the `lets get rid of everybody` purge that had to be gone back on a bit? I think that sometimes the infamy of what has/ is going on at the `Shire hides the fact that other clubs have problems and rather `bizzare` people in charge making strange decisions.

Strange indeed although I don't believe anybody is trying to gain personally out of it.
