....Shire could be voted out of the Scottish Football League. Members have decided in favour of re-election. A team finishing bottom in successive seasons, starting in 2005/06, wil be reduced to Associate Member status, with no voting rights. Two more years at the bottom of Division Three and there could be a vote to replace them. Now is the time for all genuine advocates, and supporters, of a Scottish pyramid to stand up and start arguing the case. Now is also the time for all Shire fans to do all they can to bring about change to the way the club is run. Because although Dennis and Gordon can be relied on to do their best, you have to wonder whether they will be allowed to achieve all they can.

I was one of a small group of supporters representing the shiretrust that handed out leaflets to people coming into Hampden on Friday morning. I am obviously dissappointed at the SFL decision to possibly `start the countdown` to our expulsion from the league. As has been said before we can start dealing with this by trying to help the manager as much as possible to avoid another wooden s.p.o.o.n next season.
I still think this rule was made specially for us and I am annoyed at the way we have been picked on. Do the SFL really think that those who run our club will be persuaded to start competing in the league? Perhaps they will be motivated to make us worse to ensure we DO get chucked out! It looks like the SFL see us as a problem and rather than try to fix it or show some backbone they have decided to simply get rid of the problem.
That does not mean we give up (its not really in our nature) we must fight our corner, continue to point out that a pyramid system is a fairer way of handling teams marooned at the bottom of division 3 and tell people that those running our club are the cause of all this, not the club itself.

As usual it's another half baked idea from the genius of those who run our game. They obviously think it's a foregone conclusion that we will finish bottom for the next 4 years as that's the only way their "revolutionary" idea will work. Put yourself in the place of a progresive club who are desperate to join the league. Your only hope is to hang around waiting for some mug to land at the bottom of the heap 4 years running. It might not happen for 60 years! By that time somebody else will probably find themselves at the right place at the right time and nick your place. Hairbrained or what? What if Shire do get their act together and somebody else hits rock bottom, maybe one of the bigger clubs. A Raith Rovers or a Clyde etc. hits financial disaster and plummets to oblivion. It could happen to anyone. Our SPL cubs have more debt than some third world nations. Would we be so desparate to kick Kilmarnock out of the league? There is no doubt that Shire have never been in such a possition in their history. Take away Mackin's involvement with Shire and you have to go back to the 1950's to find Shire at the bottom, prior to that it was 1936 and before then 1912. And to think Celtic fans are paranoid that everyone's out to get them! This is a classic case of kicking a dog when it's down... well it's about time this dog bit back.

Ramz and whoever else went to Hampden to lobby the SFA well done. Also Sandy Nimmo agree with all you say. I think this decision will make the players, fans & management team stronger. We proved last year a few times that we could compete, remember Dennis`s Manager of the Month and the 9 points in 8 days. I don`t think there was a lot between the bottom 8 and I think the league will be even closer next season. Will Mackin be rubbing his hands at this decision? Some other teams like Albion Rovers could also be worried. The fans will have to get behind the team again next season and also support The Shiretrust.
