Absolute tossers! The cheek of that is astounding. They sould be ashamed. I actually miss the old Airdrieonians being up the road from me as the Rovers - Airdrie games were always something special. Whatever the new club in Airdrie call themselves, they will always be Clydebank and I couldn't care less if the Rovers play them. What kind of tosser thinks the best way to keep his club going is to put another out of business. Why do the bigger clubs get the idea that the small clubs are expendible?

On the scale of SCARY-OMETERS this ranks about 1.
Sources, I have heard, say that the Dundee fans were looking for a "Shire" way out a number of months ago but the price put them off.
Not going into too much detail here but have they looked into the Shareholder/vote situation ?
This is another "News of the World" type story of which we will see so many more before this season sorry end is out.
Hang in there as the S.D.M.C. are still here for the club and for you !

What I found shocking about this article was that these were not businessmen or club officials saying they were thinking of buying out the Shire and killing it off but were actually SUPPORTERS! The Dee4life are supposed to be trying to keep Dundee F.C. alive after their mega debt crisis came to light but I never thought a group of FANS would seriously consider doing this by KILLING another club - reguardless of whether they have the money to do it or not! These people are not supporters, they are potential CLUB KILLERS, they are no better than Mackin and his like - a disgraceful article!

hi as you can tell im a bankies fan. I know exactly what your going through just now.I am a member of the bankies supporters trust. Do you have a trust? if not then you should conatct james proctor at supporters direct and look at starting one.If every person in that makes up an average home gate joins you would be able to mount a considerable bid to take over the club. Say 200 people pay 20 pounds thats 4 grand. I posted on the bankies mailing list with regard to your situation and lots of bankies fans said theyd be willing to contribute to your cause. If even half the members of the supporters trusts in Scotland give say two pounds each this would double the 4 thousand pounds i mentioned earlier. This is a highly realistic figure and topped up with fundraising ( we average around 1thousand pounds for a race night ad a few grand for a dance) you could more than meet the asking price for the club ( i think i heard something about 25 grand though dont quote me on that). Dont give up on the club cause all real supporters wont give up on you! Wel all help you aslong as you need it. Eddie Btw ive always hated dundee ever since i ballboyd' at kilbowie and there fans sang songs about Davie Cooper so screw them!

Sorry Ed I`ve had to `quote` you here! If only it was £25k then I don`t think there would be much of a problem. Unfortunately I believe we are talking in the region of a few £million - the chairman apparently wants £3.5 million for the sale of the ground alone! This seems to be a major stumbling block, the chairman & his chums seem to have overvalued the club and its ground and are not getting any serious bidders (or something would have happened by now). Untill recently, I had no strong feelings about Dundee F.C. and their fans. However I remember one Saturday in the early 90`s Shire were not playing and I went to New Kilbowie to watch a cup game between the Bankies and Dundee. When Clybebank scored many Dundee fans ran on to the pitch and one of them hit your keeper in a disgraceful act. The referee abandoned the game - it is, to date, the only serious crowd trouble I have ever seen at a match involving a lower division team. I don`t like Dundee very much now!

I took this from the P&B site today:
8 April 12.30pm - Tom Burton (administrator for dundee fc) confirmed that dundee will remain at dens for 2004/05 season to give the team breathing space to find a permanent solution.
I think this rules out the possibility of them `coming for us` - at least for a while! It`s difficult to tell how serious their interest in us was but I believe a takeover was considered as one option (probably unofficially).
Another potential crisis passes, I wonder how long it is before the next one appears? Thats the way things are in the land of Shire these days.

I see that Lanarkshire is new to this site. There is plenty of information around as to what the Chairman wants from the sale of the ground. It is our earnest wish that he doesn't get it. The reported "deal on the table" was £3.5M but this lapsed in 2003 and what is now on offer subject to planning permission being granted for housing development is £1.6M. As reported in the club website last week this is not a "done deal" and the Shire will be playing at Firs Park next season. Join shiretrust and help us stop Mackin trashing our club.
