Although East Stirling has a small based fanclub (11 members) in Holland, it is ofcourse not as well-known as The Old Firm or lets say Hearts (Mark de Vries). But on the 4th of May, the biggest newspapers in the Netherlands - De Telegraaf and AD Sportwereld - wrote an article about East Stirling. Not because of the amazing results , but about Ladbrokes, who have a "million-loss" because there are more people who bet on an East Stirling defeat, than for an Arsenal win. This is the article: Het Schotse FC East Stirlingshire is een ware nachtmerrie voor wedkantoren. If anyone wants a translation, please ask

I`ll place the translation on Monday. My favourite Dutch club - SC Heerenveen - can achieve European Football tomorrow, so we`re making some celebration stuff. And our manager leaves the club after 21 years, to become the - 21 Holland manager. So I`m a little busy ;D. ps Almost a point today, I hate Montrose

The Scottish FC East Stirlingshire are a truth nightmare for wedkantoren. He who a defeat for the hekkensluiter in the third divisie predicts, falls almost assuredly in the prices. Stirlingshire lost this week end for 24e the time on file and could this season only one time and win two times right to play. "Het are only a small club, but he has already cost our millions, " thus a spokesman of wedkantoor Ladbrokes. "Er bet more people on a defeat of Stirlingshire then on a victory of Arsenal. Only one triumph is possible our loss still slightly beperken." The chance then is small, there are go speelronden still only two. Wedkantoren fear the next season. Degradatie from the third divisie is not possible but and it is the question if the club can reinforce himself in the summer. The season of East Stirlingshire is still in the race the books enter as the worst football volume of a British football club ever.

, not bad! This is probably how my English would sound for you . wedkantoren = Bookies Hekkensluiter = a name for the last team in the league, rockbottom is a good alternative Degradatie = relegation Speelronden = match days Well done, Salisbury

Scottish FC East Stirlingshire is a true nightmare voor the bookies. Predicting a defeat for the rockbottom third division club is almost a garantue to win your bet. Stirlingshire lost for the 24th time in a row this weekend and has managed to win just 1 match and get 2 draws this season. "It is only a small club, but it has cost us millions"says a Ladbrokes spokesman. "there are more bets placed on an east stirling defeat, then an Arsenal win. Only a win can decrease our loss" With only two matches to go, the chance is very little to happen. The bookies fear the next season. Relegation from the Third Division isn`t possible and it is the question the club can strengthen their squad in the summer. This East Stirlingshire season is still in the race to become the worst ever season in Brittsh football history. I hope it makes a little sense Can anyone tell me which club ownes the worst season ever at this time?

This comes from the Daily Telegraph:
Quote: Is this the worst football team there's ever been?
By Auslan Cramb Q. What is the opposite of Arsenal? A. East Stirlingshire. Both are football league clubs, both had games at the weekend, but there the resemblance ends.
One is renowned for its "total football" at the top of the Barcleycard Premiership, the other for total failure at the bottom of the Scottish Third Division. Arsene Wenger's team of multi-millionares - that's Arsenal - drew on Saturday but are still on course for the record-breaking feat of remaining unbeaten for an entire season in one of the toughest leagues in the world. In the process, the Gunners have scored 69 goals in 24 wins and 11 draws. Their star striker, Thierry Henry, one of the best players in the world, earns more than £80,000 a week and has scored 37 times.
Dennis Newall's team of part-timers - that's East Stirlingshire - lost at the weekend for the 24th game in a row, and are on course for the worst season recorded by a British club in the national leagues. The Shire have conceded 113 goals, winning just one game, drawing two and losing 30. Their star striker, Derek Ure, earns £10 a week and has scored eight times.
The average home attendance at Highbury is about 37,000, the average at Firs Park in F*****k around 200. The Scottish club's losing habit has become so well established that it features every week in hundreds of accumulator bets in which punters predict the outcome of several games. A spokesman for Ladbrokes said: "East Stirlingshire are a tiny club but have already cost us millions this year. They are a banker on the coupon every week and more people back them to lose than Celtic to win. People from across the UK and the world are backing whoever plays against them. If they could win one more game this season, it would alleviate some of our losses." Ian Ramsey, chairman of the supporters' club, said: "Things are not bad, they're beyond belief. I wouldn't wish this on anybody."
On Saturday, while losing 3-0 (an improvement on 8-1 the previous weekend), the fans held a demonstration against the directors who took over the club two years ago and reduced the players' wages from £30 to £10 a week. At the end of that season, all the senior players left and members of the under-18 team stepped in to play in the league - from which there is no relegation and therefore no immediate prospect of an end to the misery.
Mr Ramsey believes the businessmen in charge at Firs Park want to sell the ground for redevelopment and "havo no interest in football". But he can think of one positive outcome of a dreadful season. "Other fans make fun of our players but not of us. They think we must be amazing fans for staying loyal to such an appaling team."
