We got a new `shift` of people in tonight to complete the weeding of the area round the players entrance - well done everybody!
Now we just need to complete the weeding on the other side of the stand - hopefully a job for next Monday/ Wednesday, 7.30 - 9pm weather permitting.

This week there will be 2 nights of work for supporter volunteers - Monday AND Wednesday nights, 7.30 - 9pm for both. Meet at the players entrance and hopefully we will be able to finish the weeding on the pie hut side of the stand.

We made good progress tonight - clearing the heavily weeded area between the players entrance and the stand, anyone coming in this way will certainly notice a difference. Thanks to a mix of regulars and first time volunteers we know only have the area between the stand and the overgrown terrace to weed and the paint job to do - well done to those that lent a hand tonight!!

A good turnout of volunteers tonight (Wed) - thank you all for your efforts! We have weeded about 2/3rds of the space between the stand and the overgrown terrace (its quite a large space) but the end is in site and we should polish this off next week.

We are into July and players old and new will be in training now - but the Supporters Club should still have plenty of time to complete our planned tasks at Firs Park. This week we should concentrate on finally finishing off the weeding - what`s left between the pie hut and the overgrown terrace and probably the path over that terrace as well (just the path tho). As has become normal we will work Monday and Wednesday night, 7.30pm - 9pm as weather or what time people can give us allows. Hope to see you there!

Jimmy the groundsman has just told me that something has come up that means the ground cannot be opened up tonight for our usual Wednesday work. I am going to move our worknight to this Thursday (7th) instead (same time, 7.30pm - 9pm) - I know this will not suit everyone and will probably affect turnout but a smaller crew can still make progress and the weather is predicted to be better that night so that`s one advantage.
As always anyone who can come to Firs Park on Thursday night and give a little bit of their time to join other supporters brighten up the ground will be made welcome. We have finished weeding the stand side of the ground and will now be working on the path on the overgrown terrace (just the path tho!).

Thanks again to a decent sized bunch of volunteers who came down to the ground tonight. Instead of weeding the end terrace path we helped Jimmy the groundsman and assistant rake up and tip away most of the big strip of grass that had been cut down the length of the park where new seeds have been planted. It was`nt in our original plan to do this but it would have taken Jimmy and his assistant ages by themselves - they can now get on with other jobs about the place - and we did come down to help after all.

A poor turnout tonight - no doubt because of sweltering 30C temperatures - resulted in the smallest crew yet struggling away in the heat - thanks to those few who made that extra effort!
There will be a friendly on Wed and Jimmy wants a day off on Thursday so there will be no further work done this week. Next week I am on holiday but work is to resume next Monday (18th), 7.30pm - 9pm - go on, give the club and the supporters a hand!

Next week I am on holiday but that does not mean that nothing should happen. Groundwork can resume on Monday (18th), 7.30pm - 9pm and probably Thursday if you wish (there`s a friendly on Wednesday). Please make an effort - even a small crew can make a difference. The target is again to weed the path (just the path) over the end terrace.

With the start of the season fast approaching I am hoping we can try to finish off the weeding before our first home game on August 6th which is a week on Saturday. We will probably be weeding on Monday night - hope to see some people down there.

This is it folks, this should be the final week of ground work - its time for the big push!
wellibob and myself scraped the boards for painting on Saturday and I`m pleased to see the path over the end terrace is weeded about a third of the way. This week we must finish weeding that path, spot weed some areas that new weeds have sprung up, saw some boards and paint them.
Obviously we want to see as many volunteers down the park as possible - we will be working Monday night and probably Thursday night as well, turn up any time after 7pm, hope to see you down there! PS If anyone has an electrical extension lead please bring it on Monday night.

A decent sized squad was down tonight (Mon) and we finished off weeding the path over the terrace and got some painting done - thanks to those who gave their time and effort - the party retired afterward to the Gordon Lounge for a round of drinks courtesy of the supporters club. We were unable to saw the boards as wellibob had memory problems about the saw - try for that one again soon wee man? On Thursday we hope to finish everything off by doing some spot weeding (where weeds have re-appeared) Sawing the boards and finish the painting.

Nice of Gordon Wylde to come and shake hands and have a chat with the volunteers. He thanked everyone who had contributed over the past few weeks and expressed the gratitude of the players who clearly appreciated the effort made. Things may be looking up at the Shire! We won`t finish bottom we all might be set for a pleasant surprise or maybe not!
