Nice of Gordon Wylde to come and shake hands and have a chat with the volunteers. He thanked everyone who had contributed over the past few weeks and expressed the gratitude of the players who clearly appreciated the effort made. Yes, cheers for taking the time to speak to us Gordon - we appreciate it. Congratulations to Jimmy the groundsman who appeared in the new `row z` fanzine thing in the record with a suspiciously `doctored` lawn mower - don`t let the fame go to your head! Come down for the final shift after 7pm on Thursday night before the season really starts with our home game against Cowdenbeath on Saturday. The main jobs are weeding parts of the lower covered terrace (that have sprouted some new weeds), scraping some of the trackside boards and painting them. I think the weather will be the only problem - if we get sporadic rain it might interfere with the painting. Volunteers will be offered a free drink courtesy of the supporters club afterwards. I now have wellibobs `jig` saw and hope to have cut the boards we need to shorten earlier.

Got hold of the saw and with Jimmy`s assistance cut the end trackside boards to the right size. That job is done now so no need for anyone to bring extensions - thanks to those that offered. Now for the final push tonight!

A decent sized squad did all the annoying little bits (like weed terrace, clean turnstyles and toilets, paint over old signs - but its finished at last! Manager Dennis Newall sends his appreciation to those supporters who helped do work on the ground from June to August - well done all. Now we can concentrate on the football!
